All the
windows are in…the sanctuary is toasty…the organ pipes have been
unveiled and the organ tuned. Bring on the celebrating!

Time has returned to First Parish! New Roman numerals and clock hands
were put on the church clock this week adding the finishing touch to our
restored church steeple. More windows are also being installed even as I
write this article. All the windows on the south side of the church will
be in for Sunday morning. The sanctuary is getting brighter and warmer.

The sidewalks are finally in! That first stair to the back door is
now at a proper height. Cleary Brothers, the window restorers, have
been working every day putting up storms and installing our green
windows as they are finished. We are still waiting for the clock numbers
and hands to be replaced. Two clear days in a row are needed for that to
happen. Ann Geikie

The scaffolding is down. The painters are about finished. The
electrician has to make a couple of small adjustments.
The clock should be put back together next week with new gold leafed
hands and numbers. (I've heard some discussions recently about
Unitarians having a timeless creed.) There are a few details to be
attended to by Walter, the superintendent from Carr Enterprises.
And then we have the window situation. With 2 men working 3 full
days, we have had 2 1/2 windows installed this past week. They look
beautiful. They open and close easily. They are WORTH waiting for. If
you’re getting the impression that it will take a while before we have
complete installation of the windows, you are right! By the Christmas
Eve service we should have all the windows replaced. The storms are due
any day now.
It's about time for us to plan a celebration and rededication of:
FIRST PARISH CHURCH Making history in the past and looking forward to
the future.
